Ekta Kapoor becomes first indian To Receive International Emmy Directorate Award

Ektaa R. Kapoor, the influential co-founder of Balaji Telefilms and a leading figure in India’s content industry, has been announced as the recipient of the prestigious 2023 International Emmy Directorate Award. Bruce L. Paisner, President & CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, made the announcement, revealing that Kapoor will be presented with the Special Emmy at the 51st International Emmy Awards Gala on Monday, November 20, 2023, in New York City.

Paisner praised Kapoor’s remarkable contributions, stating, “Ektaa R. Ektaa Kapoor has been a prominent figure in Indian television since the inception of Balaji in 1994, a journey she embarked on with her parents: Indian movie star and producer Jeetendra Kapoor and media executive Shobha Kapoor. Kapoor is credited with reshaping India’s television landscape, pioneering an entire genre of television content, and playing a pivotal role in India’s satellite television boom. Under the Balaji banner, she has produced over 17,000 hours of television content, crafted 45 films, and introduced one of India’s earliest Indian OTT platforms, Alt Balaji.
