PIA suspends Hina Sani after her arrest by Canadian authorities in passport fraud case

RAWALPINDI – Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has taken action against its flight attendant Hina Sani, who was briefly detained at the Toronto airport for carrying a passport not issued for international travel.

Cabin crew member Hina Sani was arrested in Toronto on board PIA flight PK-789. Canadian immigration officials confiscated several of his passports on Friday.

The action was taken after Sani defamed the country’s flag bearer due to several scams.

The crew member, along with two others from the same flight, were initially detained but later released after investigation. PIA management soon suspended the crew member and said further action would be taken based on the Canadian Customs investigation report.

A PIA spokesperson told the media that the airline is cooperating with Canadian authorities and the suspended crew member will face additional departmental and legal action based on the investigation report.

The crew members are expected to return to Pakistan over the weekend.

PIA crew member brought bad name to Pakistan as another air hostess Maryam Raza slipped into Canada last month.
