Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]28 December (ANI): Veteran actor Farooq Shaikh passed away on 28 December 2013.

On his 10th death anniversary, veteran actress Shabana Azmi took a trip down memory lane to remember the times when she worked with him so fondly.
He wrote on Instagram, “10 years…I remember well that on 14th December we did your Amrita’s last show in front of the Taj Mahal. I commented that we could never get a place to match the Taj Mahal.” ” This should be our last show because we’ve been playing this for 22 years.”

Shabana has shared a picture of Farooq in the post.

He added, “Pat got your answer, ‘Why should we lift the curtain on your Amrita – we’ll do it for the next 22 years!’ After 14 days, you left… and with it a deep friendship of 40 years also ended. With Zulfi gone, I can never play Amrita again. I miss you Phirki.”

Notably, Shabana Azmi and Farooq Shaikh co-starred in the popular drama ‘Tumhari Amrita’ directed by Firoz Abbas Khan.

It is a Hindi adaptation of AR Gurney’s play ‘Love Letters’.

It revolves around Amrita Nigam, played by Shabana Azmi, and Zulfikar Haider, played by Farooq Shaikh, who communicate through letters over the years, sharing their joys and sorrows.

Farooq’s first significant cinematic appearance was in the 1973 film ‘Garm Hawa’, in which he played a supporting role opposite Balraj Sahni. He appeared in films like ‘Noori’, ‘Chashme Baddoor’, ‘Umrao Jaan Biwi Ho To Aisi’ and many others.

The late actor also hosted the first season of the TV show ‘Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai’. He won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2010 for his work in the sports film ‘Lahore’.

Meanwhile, Shabana will be next seen in ‘Bun Tikki’. (ANI)
